Social Statistics Infographic

January 25, 2012 in Metrics

Mediabistro.com recently published an infographic with metrics comparing Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.

Items of note:

  • Average Facebook fan has 130 Friends and likes 80 pages
  • Most common reason we “Like” a brand on Facebook, we are customers! (56%)
  • 34% of marketers have generated leads on Twitter and 20% have closed deals on Twitter
  • 40% of Twitter users don’t Tweet, they just read what is happening
  • 55% of Twitter users use mobile versions. (This seems low to me)
  • 40% of Bloggers consider themselves as professional Bloggers (??? debateable :) )

Wow! Very interesting statistics!  Now…to use it to our advantage! lol

Also, I’m curious to know the number of parents who allow their 10 yr olds on FB.  I pull my hair out trying to monitor my 13 & 14 yr old’s activity! :D

Honestly, I’m still trying to get my head around the concept of infographics. They seem to be a unique blend of remarkable graphic design and TMI. Here, the subject matter drew me in and I did come away with far more “Ah Has” than “So Whats”…

Agree with you Rick and not sure this trend will last. Lots of good info here and that is why I shared it, but would have been easier to read broken up into separate items.

I think as we all get more comfortable with FB, parents are trusting younger kids to participate. I hope they continue to monitor though, things can happen!

I am definitely and above average user! Social media has come a long way – glad brands are embracing the future so well … mostly!

The fact that shocked me is the one that says 95% of wall posts are not answered by brands and not because I didn’t know it was happening. It shocked me because I don’t understand why businesses would ignore their customers….

    Fascinating stats! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing this infographic. I agree, only 55% of Twitterers use mobile does seem low. Another surprise was that nearly 30% of B2B social marketers are not tracking lead generation from social media!

Can’t wait to use these stats in an upcoming presentation.  My favorite?  Auto-posting decreases likes and comments by 70%.  I am a huge opponent of auto-posting. Thanks for sharing!

I think that it’s interesting that 40% of people don’t tweet – they just read interesting things on Twitter. I have my moods when I’m off for a day and times when I’m chatty.
