Actor Rajinikanth has recently addressed his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s statement defending him against the ‘Sanghi’ tag at the audio launch of her upcoming film, Lal Salaam.
Aishwarya Rajinikanth Denies ‘Sanghi’ Label for Rajinikanth
During the audio launch of Lal Salaam on January 26 in Chennai, Aishwarya spoke out against those who labeled her father, veteran actor Rajinikanth, as a ‘Sanghi.’ She clarified, “Rajinikanth is not a Sanghi. If he was, he wouldn’t have done a film like Lal Salaam.”
Aishwarya’s Stand on Social Media Criticism
Aishwarya expressed her frustration with social media criticism, stating, “I generally stay away from social media, but my team often tells me what’s happening and keep showing some posts. I used to get angry seeing them. We’re human beings too.” She highlighted that the term ‘Sanghi’ was unknown to her until recently, learning that it refers to people supporting a particular political party.
Rajinikanth Defends Aishwarya’s Statement
Outside Chennai airport on Monday, Rajinikanth defended his daughter’s comment, asserting that she did not use ‘Sanghi’ in a negative sense. He explained, “My daughter never said that Sanghi was a bad word. She only questioned why her father was being branded that way when he is into spirituality.”

Rajinikanth’s Role in Lal Salaam
Rajinikanth will be making an extended cameo appearance in Lal Salaam, portraying the character named Moideen Bhai. The film, set against the backdrop of cricket, stars Vishnu Vishal and Vikrant in lead roles. After a seven-year gap, Aishwarya returns to directing with Lal Salaam, following her last project, the Tamil action-thriller Vai Raja Vai, which featured her ex-husband Dhanush in a cameo.
