On Saturday, Amazon announced the removal of sweets labeled as “Shri Ram Mandir Ayodhya Prasad” after receiving a notice from the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) citing the sale of deceptive products.
Amazon confirmed the receipt of a communication from the CCPA, addressing concerns about misleading product claims made by certain sellers. The company stated that it is actively “investigating them for violations” and, in the meantime, is taking appropriate actions against such listings in accordance with its policies, as mentioned by an Amazon spokesperson in an official statement.

The CCPA had issued a notice to Amazon regarding the sale of sweets under the name ‘Shri Ram Mandir Ayodhya Prasad.’ This regulatory intervention came in response to a complaint filed by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT). The CAIT alleged that Amazon was involved in deceptive trade practices by selling sweets under the guise of prasad (offering) from the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, scheduled for consecration on January 22.
