According to Sacnilk.com, Fighter is on track to surpass ₹180 crore in India within just two weeks of its release. In its first week alone, the film raked in ₹146.5 crore. Subsequent days witnessed impressive earnings:
- On day 9 (second Friday), ₹5.75 crore
- On day 10 (second Saturday), ₹10.5 crore
- On day 11 (second Sunday), ₹12.5 crore
- On day 12, ₹3.25 crore
- On day 13, an estimated ₹3.01 crore, bringing the total to approximately ₹181.51 crore nett domestically.
Controversy Erupts
However, amidst its success, Fighter faced controversy. India TV reported that the film received a legal notice regarding a kissing scene involving the lead actors. Wing Commander Saumya Deep Das of the Indian Air Force expressed concerns over the portrayal, stating that it misrepresents the dignity of the uniform and undermines the sacrifices made by officers. The notice highlighted the inappropriate depiction of romantic encounters in uniform, citing it as contrary to the expected standards of discipline and decorum.
A Tribute to Valor
Despite the controversy, Fighter remains a poignant tribute to the valor, sacrifice, and patriotism of the Indian armed forces. Alongside Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, the film features Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover, and Akshay Oberoi in pivotal roles. Hrithik Roshan portrays Squadron Leader Shamsher Pathania aka Patty, Deepika Padukone as Squadron Leader Minal Rathore aka Minni, and Anil Kapoor as Group Captain Rakesh Jai Singh aka Rocky, all fighting for the country’s honor.
