Safran’s Bold Move and Tata-Airbus Deal – India’s Defense Landscape Transformed Now!

India’s Ambassador to France, Jawed Ashraf, revealed that Safran has expressed a keen interest in collaborating and sharing technology for the advancement of fighter jet engines in India, as reported by Reuters.

During a media briefing on Friday, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra highlighted key outcomes from talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron in Jaipur. Additionally, Kwatra announced a significant development, stating that India’s Tata group and France’s Airbus have formally entered into an agreement to manufacture civilian helicopters, incorporating a substantial indigenous and localization component.

Kwatra emphasized the strengthening of defense ties between India and France, outlining a defense-industrial partnership roadmap. This strategic roadmap aims to facilitate co-development and co-production of crucial military hardware and platforms, fostering technology collaboration across various domains, including space, land warfare, cyberspace, and artificial intelligence.

The bond between France and India has deepened with a comprehensive 25-year plan, emphasizing collaboration in defense, nuclear energy, and space. Prime Minister Modi’s invitation to attend France’s Bastille Day celebrations last year further solidified this partnership. During the visit, plans were unveiled to acquire additional submarines from France’s Naval Group and 26 marine Rafale fighter jets from Dassault Aviation SA.
