Quoting a report from the NITI Aayog, it was noted that trucks play a crucial role in meeting 70% of India’s domestic freight demand. As road freight travel is projected to increase significantly, the number of trucks is expected to quadruple from 4 million in 2022 to approximately 17 million by 2050. Proper resting facilities for long-haul truck drivers become crucial to combat sleep deprivation and reduce the risk of road accidents.

Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024: A Catalyst for Change

A Unified Platform for Mobility and Supply Chain

PM Modi addressed the gathering at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024, emphasizing that the event has brought the entire mobility and supply chain community onto a single platform. He reiterated the ambitious goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047 and underscored the pivotal role of the mobility sector in achieving this objective.

National Electric Mobility Mission

PM Modi outlined the government’s commitment to electric mobility, stating that the National Electric Mobility Mission is actively promoting the manufacturing of electric vehicles. With a substantial investment of ₹10,000 crore to create demand for electric vehicles, he credited the FAME scheme for the introduction of electric buses in the capital and several other cities.

Budgetary Allocations for Research and Innovation

The Prime Minister announced a significant fund allocation of ₹1 lakh crore in the current year’s budget to encourage research and innovation. He also highlighted the decision to expand tax exemptions for startups, foreseeing these measures as creating new opportunities in the mobility sector.
